Blackwire, residential and commercial distributor to the custom installation industry, has introduced the Ring Events Driver for Elan home automation systems, which is an addition to their existing drivers for Control4 and URC systems. Now with the Blackwire driver, integrators will be able to use push-button and motion events from Ring devices and integrate them into their Elan projects. Because this is a direct integration with Ring, the driver is faster than other solutions that may rely on third-party services and is more reliable than doorbell-sensing hardware, which can be overly sensitive to power fluctuations, the company said in a statement.

Blackwire Owner Kevin Luthur said that the company “worked directly with Ring to build a solution that we would be able to extend into other platforms in the industry.”

Dealers can program lighting scenes or audio announcements, based on motion events received from Ring doorbells and cameras. Furhermore, when someone pushes the doorbell button, the Elan system instantly receives an event from Ring to perform a variety home automation routines.
