Premium German AV brand Loewe has unveiled two new speakers into its klang series – a smart speaker – the s series and a multi-room speaker – the mr series.

The launches mark a return for the company to the world of audio after a “brief hiatus” from the UK market, and follows the launch of a new premium OLED TV with Dolby Atmos in October.

All the new products are crafted at Loewe’s factory in Kronach, Germany, where the electronics specialist has been designing and manufacturing for many years.

The s series is already award-winning, having scooped both Red Dot and iF Design Awards this year, and Loewe promises “totally balanced sound, crystal clear trebles and thundering bass” – with the arrangement of the speakers in combination with a bass reflex tube.

The s1 measures 335 x 120 x 90 mm, while the s3 measures 460 x 160 x 90 mm, and both speakers feature straight lines and a slim silhouette, and a brushed aluminium case available in either a basalt and light grey finish.

With both Bluetooth for wireless streaming, as well as MP3 via USB available, the speakers also offer “limitless listening opportunities”, says Loewe.

For the more traditional listener, the series also features internet, FM and DAB/DAB+ radio, while the s3 is even equipped with a CD player.

Alongside this, the s3 utilises Spotify Connect and embedded streaming services from Deezer, Amazon Music and more, says Loewe. With its large display, content is “clear and easy to read, allowing for an intuitive experience”, whilst controllability is simple, either by using the remote or by accessing the Loewe Radio app – where users can install streaming services and create playlists.

Design-wise, Loewe describes the MR series as “no-nonsense and elegant” and all three speakers pay homage to Loewe’s roster of products, both past and present.

The speakers feature a glass top panel with integrated touch functionality and LED display, whilst the speaker’s body is covered in a premium acoustic fibre, “fitting into a plethora of spaces and home styles”, the company claims.

Thanks to the tech firm’s cooperation with DTS Play-Fi, a premium wireless audio ecosystem, the new multi-room family offers plenty of functionality and streaming services. As well as built in technologies such as Apple AirPlay 2, the klang mr integrates seamlessly into most existing multi-room set ups, said Loewe.

There are three in the range – the mr1, mr3 and mr5, which is launched this month.

The smallest family member, the klang mr1, holds a music power of 30 watts. According to Loewe, the speaker is perfect as a rear speaker for the Loewe klang bar5 mr, due to its included wall mount and compact design.

The Loewe klang mr3 is equipped with three full range drivers, a subwoofer and two passive radiators, with which it generates a “perfectly balanced sound experience of 150 watts – with strong bass and crystal-clear trebles”, Loewe says.

Finally, with a total music output of 180 watts, the klang mr5 is the largest speaker in the range, and, with its three tweeters, three full range drivers, a subwoofer and two passive radiators, the mr5 “packs a real punch”, Loewe adds.

The speakers can be easily connected to a mobile phone via Bluetooth, allowing the listener to stream their favourite playlist.
