Crestron and the entire AV community are grieving the loss of a visionary and friend, Fred Bargetzi, the company’s CTO, after a courageous fight against ALS. He is being honored and remembered as a true pioneer in the industry, consistently leading the charge to the next great innovation, while along the way fostering the partnerships that would become his life’s truest friendships.

With his engineering background, cultivated at a very early age, Bargetzi led Crestron first as its application engineer, but quickly changed the direction of the company with his pulse on consumers’ desires and integrators’ needs. From commercial to residential projects, from lighting and AV to total home control, it was Bargetzi’s vision and “get it done” attitude that changed the course of the company.

The hole left by his absence in the community is striking to both friends and colleagues. If you wish to share your memories, Crestron asks you to email rememberingfred@crestron.com, as it prepares a celebration of Bargetzi’s life.

Crestron released a statement on Bargetzi’s death:

“His impact on our company cannot be overstated. The impact he’s had on our industry is even greater. Under Fred’s leadership, he challenged us to not only push the boundaries of what’s possible, but to do so with an eye towards making the world a better place.

Having just celebrated his 30th anniversary at Crestron, Fred leaves behind a legacy of innovation, creativity, enthusiasm, and kindness that has helped shape the AV industry into what it is today. We are eternally grateful for his dedication and inspiration. He will be deeply missed.”
